I make my 3D printed fidgets using PLA, which is made from plants like corn and sugarcane. That means it’s plant-derived rather than made from oil.
PLA can also be recycled, so leftover pieces and failed prints don’t have to go to waste. Using this material helps reduce the impact on the environment compared to traditional plastics, while still letting me create fun and useful designs.
Can 3D printed PLA be recycled? Yes! Another of the benefits of PLA as a thermoplastic is that it can be melted and re-molded. In practice, this means you can recycle used PLA prints to create molds, or simply use a filament extruder (above) to melt it into fresh filament.
